Twyla Tharp revolutionized the world of dance, and now, Indiana University students are learning the works and techniques that made her a legend.
“THTR-D125 Fundamentals of Movement and Creativity: Twyla Tharp” is a yearlong, General Education Arts & Humanities course in IU’s Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance. Students learn Tharp’s Treefog Technique, as well as Torelli and The One Hundreds—two pieces choreographed by Tharp in 1971. They are also responsible for submitting blogs about their experiences.
Shawn Stevens, a former member of the Twyla Tharp Dance Company, instructs the course.
Students will provide weekly updates via personal blogs. Author pages for each student will be added as they become available.
